STEPH STIGMA
Steph Stigma is a Wilmington, NC-based comedian with a history as wild as her punchlines. Born on the summer solstice in the Bermuda Triangle during a lightning storm, she was later voted “Least Punchable Nerd” at the Palm Beach County GED testing facility—an accolade she considers her true origin story.
Steph’s obsession with the stage began in 1993 when she launched the grunge band “Albino Meat Machine” and spiraled into a chaotic love affair with music, eventually landing her in Los Angeles. There, she was abducted into the notoriously obnoxious shock-rock band “Willow Wisp,” headlined venues like the Whiskey A-Go-Go and Viper Room, and once, while dressed as a cocaine-fueled cyborg, terrified Gilbert Gottfried at a red-carpet event.
After her rock-and-roll lifestyle burned out in 2017, Steph crash-landed in Wilmington, where she rose like some weird phoenix-butterfly into the world of stand-up comedy. Her unique perspective and misdirectional wordplay tackle everything from autism and mental illness to aliens, addiction, and nerd culture.
Steph’s accolades include winning the Port City Comedy Jam (as seen on Roku’s King TV Network), performing at Raleigh Pride, and being a finalist in North Carolina’s Funniest 2022. A regular at Dead Crow Comedy Club, she’s worked alongside comics like Sam Tallent, Guy Branum, Orlando Jones, Eddie Ifft, and Aaron Berg.
In addition to comedy, Steph produces unique shows, including the queer comedy showcase “Laughs of Love” and the MST3K-style “Flick Roast.” She also hosts “Steph’s Box” podcast and “First Amendment Night,” a weekly open mic and Comedy League at Laws & Libations in Wilmington.
As an actress, Steph has appeared in the Webby-nominated series, “There Will Be Brawl” (Falco), Muse – “Supremacy”, & The Runarounds

Experience the Best Comedy Shows in Town
“Fun atmosphere, hilarious comics and a great vibe is what I got from a random Friday night at the PLAYHOUSE Nightclub. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the show and look to go there again. Glad that Jacksonville finally has a comedy club and something to do that is hilarious to blow off steam from a long work week. Highly recommend for anyone, either it being solo, on a date or with a group this will be a very enjoyable night at PLAYHOUSE!!”“We enjoyed the comedy show. We were politely welcomed at the door by the owner. The seating areas do have comfortable cushioned chairs. We sat in the bar area to watch a two hour show. I was not disappointed. The ambiance was great for date-night with my husband. We shared several drinks and lots of laughs together. We look forward to another date-night at the Playhouse.”“The venue is an appropriate business for a city of a minimum population. The staff was extremely welcoming and the servers were friendly and attentive to each customer. The performers were hilarious and did a great job of involving the customers into their act.”
